New for 2008-2009: Scholarship for Harvard

Beautiful Minds is both proud and delighted to announce this new scholarship for Harvard. The research facilities at Harvard in the field of neuroscience, the mind, brain, learning and education are the best in the world. Bernadette Tynan our President and founder has experienced this first hand and came back to the charity impressed by both the professionalism of staff, exceptional value for money and brilliantly high standards of academic endeavour that will benefit children and humankind world wide.

In Summer 2008 an committee and trustee meeting was held and the charity voted on introducing a new scholarship to fund:

  • Full course attendance for one teaching professional at a designated course to be held by Harvard in neuroscience and education
  • Return economy class flight to Logan airport Boston from designated UK airport
  • Hotel accommodation at reputable facility such as Sheraton Commander, and within short walking distance of Harvard Square and relevant faculty buildings.
Conditions and Qualifying Criteria:

  • Precise course funded is selected by trustees of Beautiful Minds
  • In order to be able to get the utmost benefit from the experience, applicants must have sufficient prior knowledge in the fields of neuroscience, psychology, education, genetics and child development, biology of the brain or a combination of these.
  • This is a post-graduate scholarship. To be considered for application all applicants must be graduates with evidence of being able to carry out post-graduate research and study.
  • Applicants must be a resident UK citizen, holding a British passport
  • Applicants must currently work in a capacity with young people and children, preferably in a charity, school or community setting serving children and young people.
  • Applicants must be able to illustrate how attendance at such a course at Harvard will benefit children and young people directly on a daily, practical basis in their organization and practical work with young people and children
  • Be able to take the time available to attend this course at the discretion of their organization and/or within their own holiday entitlement.
  • One Scholarship to be offered annually and to commence Spring and Summer 2009
  • One scholarship per Institute/Organization to be funded only
  • Please note that although Beautiful Minds will fund all travel and accommodation arrangements personal travel insurance is recommended on all international flights and is taken out at the individuals own discretion.
